Yul Edochie, one of Nollywood’s finest actors, has stirred significant reactions after revealing that he received a divine message instructing him to lead Africans back to their traditional roots.
Edochie, who proudly identifies as a traditionalist, believes that God called him to guide his people toward their cultural heritage, asserting that African traditions are divinely approved and offer a path to salvation.
The actor expressed his deep pride in his Igbo heritage and emphasized his commitment to preserving and promoting African customs.
He criticized the lasting influence of Western culture on the African continent, which he believes has caused many Africans to feel ashamed of their traditional practices.
According to Edochie, the colonial era left a lasting impact that made many Africans view their own culture as inferior, a belief that still lingers today.
In a passionate statement, Edochie said, “God gave me a clear and direct message. Lead my people back to their traditional ways.
For their ways are approved by me the Lord God Almighty.” He further criticized the influence of Western culture, especially the “Oyibo” people, claiming that their efforts have led many Africans to deny their cultural identity out of fear of societal judgment.
Reaffirming his dedication to his roots, Edochie declared, “I Chief Yul Edochie, Isi Mmili Ji Ofor 1 of Igbo Land will never be inferior to any human being. Neither will I ever be ashamed of my roots. NEVER. I’m a proud, hardcore Traditionalist.”
As a self-proclaimed hardcore traditionalist, he is determined to encourage others to embrace their cultural legacy without shame.
Edochie’s comments have sparked both support and criticism, with many praising his advocacy for cultural pride, while others question the broader implications of his views.
