A social media user from Kogi State has stirred conversation online after openly criticizing popular Nollywood actress Ajanigo Simeon for her choice of outfit in a recent viral post. The actress, known for her roles in various Nollywood films and her bold fashion statements, had shared new photos on social media that quickly drew widespread attention.
Reacting to the images, the Kogi man did not hold back in expressing his disappointment, especially considering Ajanigo’s status as a married woman. In his words: “If person talk all this, Kogi feminist go dey call us local. But on a serious note, how on can a well-groomed and responsible married woman appear like this on social media?”
The comment, which has since gone viral, sparked a heated debate online. While some users agreed with the man’s sentiments and questioned the appropriateness of the actress’s outfit, others came to her defense, arguing that personal expression through fashion should not be policed—regardless of marital status.
Supporters of Ajanigo argued that the actress has the right to express herself and that her fashion choices do not determine her character or values. Meanwhile, critics emphasized cultural and moral expectations, particularly for public figures representing their communities.
This incident has once again reignited discussions about cultural identity, feminism, and the evolving expectations of women in the entertainment industry—particularly in regions like Kogi, where traditional values often clash with modern expression.
As of now, Ajanigo has not officially responded to the backlash.
