The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 37 suspected internet fraudsters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, during an operation dubbed “Operation Eagle Sweep.”
In a statement released on X, the EFCC confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence on their involvement in cybercrime activities. The statement emphasized that the arrests were made in several hideouts around the state.
Recovered from the suspects were exotic vehicles, smartphones, smart wristwatches, international passports, ATM cards from various banks, and laptops containing incriminating materials and documents.
“The matter will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations,” the EFCC said, assuring the public that the investigation is ongoing.
This operation is part of the EFCC’s continued efforts to address the growing issue of internet fraud in the country.
