Nigerian entrepreneur and reality TV personality Chioma Ikokwu, popularly known as Chioma Good Hair, has expressed her disappointment over the quality of live performances by many Nigerian artists.
Taking to her Snapchat, the Real Housewives of Lagos star shared her thoughts after being impressed by a performance from Tanzanian singer Juma Jux. She urged Nigerian performers to emulate the same level of preparation and energy.
Chioma described several Nigerian performances as uninspired and poorly executed, pointing out a lack of rehearsal and substance, despite the strong support these artists receive from fans.
She wrote:
“I wish Nigerian performers would start putting more effort into their performances like Juma did. I find a lot of their performances lazy and lacklustre. It lacks rehearsal & substance. And it’s unfair considering the love their fans show.
Don’t get me wrong. Not all of them are bad. The good ones are very, very good, but trust me, the majority are terrible and have no business on stage.”
Her comments have sparked conversation online, with some agreeing that many Nigerian acts could do more to elevate their stagecraft.
