Nigerian teenage artist Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke has made history by breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest painting by an individual. His monumental artwork, titled Impossibility Is a Myth, spans an astonishing 12,303 square meters more than twice the size of a football field surpassing the previous record by nearly 3,000 square meters.
The unveiling of the record-breaking masterpiece took place in Abuja on April 2, 2025, in commemoration of World Autism Awareness Day. The event attracted high-profile guests, including government officials, diplomats, traditional rulers, and key stakeholders in the arts and culture sector. During the ceremony, Tagbo-Okeke was formally presented with his Guinness World Records certificate.
Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, praised the young artist’s remarkable achievement, calling it a testament to the limitless potential of individuals, regardless of age or challenges. She emphasized that his success serves as an inspiration for young Nigerians to dream big and work towards their goals.
Tagbo-Okeke’s father, Mr. Tagbo Okeke, shared insights into his son’s artistic journey, highlighting his deep passion for colors and structured routines, which played a crucial role in bringing his vision to life. The painting’s theme, Impossibility Is a Myth, symbolizes resilience and the ability to overcome challenges.
Several dignitaries, including UNICEF representatives and Senator Victor Umeh, underscored the importance of disability inclusion and called for more investment in specialized education for autistic children. They emphasized the need for a society that fosters innovation, inclusivity, and support for young talents.
Tagbo-Okeke’s groundbreaking achievement is not just a personal victory but a national inspiration, proving that creativity and determination can defy all limits.
