Veteran Nollywood actress Dupe Jayesimi has shared her heartbreak over being childless at 60, revealing how loneliness overshadowed what should have been a milestone birthday.
In an emotional interview on the ‘Talk to B’ podcast, Jayesimi recalled spending her 60th birthday alone in a hotel, crying over the absence of children to celebrate her.
“I know how children celebrate their parents, but I have none to celebrate me. On my birthday, I gave someone money to prepare food in my name, then I left to cry in a hotel for days,” she revealed.
The actress also opened up about her failed marriage, detailing how she suffered a miscarriage shortly after her 1988 wedding and later faced medical complications that prevented her from conceiving. Despite undergoing surgery in hopes of having a child, her husband abandoned her for three months and later married another woman who was already pregnant for him.
Her story has sparked deep conversations online, with many expressing sympathy and admiration for her resilience. Fans and colleagues have urged her to stay strong, while others have criticized societal pressures that make childlessness a source of shame.
