Timi Dakolo has fired back at Apostle Femi Lazarus for criticizing gospel artists who charge performance fees, accusing the pastor of hypocrisy.
The drama started when Apostle Lazarus claimed that an unnamed gospel singer demanded $10,000, a first-class flight, and a 50% deposit before agreeing to minister at an event. He condemned the trend, arguing that gospel musicians should prioritize service over money.
Dakolo, however, was not having it. "Name the artist!" he challenged the pastor in a fiery Instagram post, calling the claim misleading.
To prove his point, Dakolo exposed that Apostle Lazarus charges $150 per student for his School of Ministry courses. Sharing screenshots as evidence, he asked: “If gospel musicians shouldn’t charge for ministry, why do preachers charge for teaching the gospel?”
The heated debate has ignited social media, with fans split—some defending gospel artists' right to charge for performances, while others argue that ministry should remain a calling, not a business.
What’s your take—should gospel musicians charge for their performances, or should ministry be free?
