Nigerian televangelist and founder of Streams of Joy International, Pastor Jerry Eze, has shared the reason behind his emotional prayer sessions, revealing that his deep sense of compassion often moves him to tears.
In a recent interview marking the fifth anniversary of the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD), which was uploaded on YouTube on Friday, the clergyman disclosed that his natural empathy intensified when he entered ministry. He realised that compassion is a crucial element in witnessing miracles.
The popular preacher disclosed that he receives numerous messages daily from people facing heartbreaking challenges, and he cannot help but feel their pain.
“The Bible says we do not have a high priest who cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities, and the Bible says he was made like one of them that he might become a faithful and merciful high priest.
“Well, I’ve always known myself to be a very compassionate person, and then coming into ministry, I realised that compassion is an inevitable tool for the miraculous. Every day, I am greeted with all kinds of messages, seeing people in all kinds of situations.
“Let me give you an example. How do you pray when you see a woman who lost her husband, tried to remarry, lost the second one, and after everything, tried to get married a third time, only to lose the third as well?”
Pastor Eze’s emotional connection to the struggles of others has been a defining aspect of his ministry, making him one of the most influential prayer leaders in Nigeria today.
