Pastor Femi Lazarus has put an end to his online dispute with singer Timi Dakolo, following a heated conversation about gospel artists charging fees to perform in churches.
The Light Nation Church founder had earlier criticised the practice, which led Timi Dakolo to defend gospel musicians, arguing that they deserve to be paid for their services. Dakolo also pointed out that Femi Lazarus charges $150 for his ministry school, which sparked further reactions.
After facing public scrutiny, Pastor Femi Lazarus decided to address the issue, recognising Timi Dakolo as a legendary figure and admitting that the singer’s concerns were valid.
He also promised that better structures would be put in place to improve conditions for both gospel artists and event hosts.
A photo of the pastor with Timi Dakolo accompanied his statement, in which he wrote:
“My brother @timidakolo is a music legend. Give him his flowers. What a man! He genuinely carries the burdens of musicians. His concerns are real. I love you. Better structures will be built. Pain is real. From pulpit to the pew, the pain is real, but we will be fine. This generation will not have a carryover of pain. Hosts will do better, Guests will do better. We will have a better nation together.”
His statement has continued to generate reactions, with some social media users praising his decision to make amends, while others remain divided on the debate over gospel musicians receiving payment.
