The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted bail to Jude Okoye, the former manager of the defunct music duo P-Square, who is facing charges of laundering N1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59. Okoye, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, was granted bail set at N100 million. As part of the bail conditions, he must provide two sureties, each owning landed property in Lagos valued at N100 million. The court will verify these properties, and Okoye is prohibited from traveling outside Nigeria without permission. Until he meets these conditions, he will remain in custody. His trial is scheduled to begin on April 14, 2025.

The case has reignited tensions within the Okoye family, particularly between the famous P-Square brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye. The duo, known for their hit songs and electrifying performances, split in 2017 following disagreements over Jude’s role as their manager. Although they briefly reconciled in 2021, their relationship has been fraught with challenges. In August 2024, Paul publicly accused Peter of facilitating Jude’s arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), further straining the already fragile family ties. These allegations have added a layer of complexity to the case, drawing widespread public attention to both the legal and personal battles surrounding the Okoye family.

Jude Okoye’s legal troubles have not only put him in the spotlight but have also highlighted the deep-seated issues within the family. As the case unfolds, many are watching closely to see how it will impact Jude’s legal standing and whether it will further fracture the family’s relationship. The situation underscores the challenges of managing fame, family dynamics, and legal issues in the public eye. For now, Jude remains focused on meeting his bail conditions as he prepares for his trial, while the Okoye family navigates the fallout from this high-profile case.
