Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami has opened up about the struggles he faced after being repeatedly rejected by movie producers, who deemed his face and physique unsuitable for roles.
In an interview on Feelrightnews TV’s YouTube channel, Salami shared how constant rejection and exclusion by producers led him to further his education.
“It was not easy at all during the time of our movie auditions because it was quite far from where I was living,” Salami recalled, describing his struggles in traveling long distances to attend casting calls. Despite his persistence, he was met with repeated rejections.
“For three years, I was given only one movie role,” he shared, highlighting the emotional toll the experience took on him.
Salami revealed that the most painful rejection came when producers outrightly told him he didn’t fit the roles they were casting. His slim build and small face often led them to favour actors with more muscular physiques.
“I cried when some producers said they couldn’t give me movie roles because of my face and body,” Salami admitted.
