Nigerian broadcaster Frank Edoho has spoken out regarding the ongoing controversy surrounding Mercy Chinwo’s contract with her former label boss, Eezee Tee (Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu).
Sharing his thoughts in a video posted on Instagram on Thursday, March 20, Edoho highlighted the importance of prioritising facts over emotions. He referenced two separate audits, one of which was conducted in 2023, both reportedly revealing that Eezee Tee was indebted to Mercy Chinwo.
He remarked, “Non-Nigerians, especially Africans, have the opinion that Nigerians always stick to narratives without using facts, and I found that to be a little true.
“In the case of Mercy Chinwo and Eezee Tee Conceptz, everyone is using emotions. As a journalist, I decided to weigh into the matter with solid facts.”
Clarifying some of the misinformation surrounding the dispute, the popular TV host explained, “The first misconception is why is Mercy Chinwo avoiding audit? Well, she isn’t, as a matter of fact, two audits have been done.”
Edoho detailed that the first audit was conducted in 2023, with Apostle Ansles Madubuko serving as a mediator. Present at the audit were Mercy Chinwo, her husband Pastor Blessed, Eezee Tee, and others involved in the matter.
Findings from the audit reportedly confirmed that Eezee Tee owed Mercy Chinwo a sum of money. A repayment arrangement was put in place, allowing him to pay back the debt in instalments.
However, according to Edoho, the audit company eventually withdrew from the matter due to Eezee Tee’s persistent delays and failure to meet the agreed repayment terms.
The second audit, carried out by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), allegedly exposed further inconsistencies in Eezee Tee’s financial records, reinforcing claims that Mercy Chinwo was owed money.
Edoho noted that while Eezee Tee had begun making partial repayments, the process had remained free of coercion or force.
Referencing another musician who had experienced a similar problem with Eezee Tee, Edoho urged Nigerians to concentrate on the facts rather than feelings. He said, “Judikay, another wonderful artiste did her own audit and discrepancies were found.”
Urging Nigerians to rely on factual evidence rather than emotions, Edoho stressed the importance of verifying information before forming opinions.
Wrapping up his statement, he said, “Let us not continue with these. We use our feelings too much. I analysed it with facts. Let us be clear, unless other facts surface, audits were performed and discrepancies were found.”
Edoho’s remarks have triggered mixed reactions online, with some people expressing scepticism, others challenging his stance, and many seeking further clarity on the Mercy Chinwo-Eezee Tee contract situation.
