The Cherubim & Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria has strongly condemned a viral video showing a controversial bishop performing a "tongue-to-tongue" anointing ceremony.
The church described the act as "horrific" and "despicable before God and man." In a statement, the church distanced itself from the individuals involved, clarifying that they are not affiliated with the C&S Unification Church and do not represent its doctrines or values.
The church expressed deep concern over the video, particularly the unauthorized use of its religious symbols and the mention of its revered founder, St. Moses Orimolade Tunolase.
The church identified the main figure in the video as Alfred Oluwasegun Okikiola Ogunnusi, who claims to be a bishop. The ceremony reportedly took place in Ogijo, Ogun State.
The church condemned Ogunnusi's attempt to justify the act using Genesis 48:10, stating that his interpretation was flawed and misleading.
The church reaffirmed its strict opposition to idolatry, stressing that the actions in the video contradict its beliefs. The church also clarified that not everyone who wears a white garment belongs to the C&S Church and urged the public not to assume affiliations based on appearance.
