In a groundbreaking move that blends music and sports, Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, known worldwide as Tems, has stepped into the realm of football ownership by joining the ownership group of Major League Soccer's San Diego FC as a club partner.

San Diego FC announced today that Tems, through her company The Leading Vibe, has joined their ranks, marking her as the first African woman to hold such a position in MLS history.

“We are delighted that Tems has joined San Diego FC as a club partner,” stated SDFC chairman Sir Mohamed Mansour in an enthusiastic press release. He highlighted Tems' global influence, noting, "Tems is a globally significant artist who will help us reach new audiences and spread the word about our unique project, which, of course, has its foundations in sub-Saharan Africa through the unique Right to Dream organisation."

Tems herself expressed her excitement about this new venture, saying, "I am thrilled to join San Diego FC’s ownership group and to be part of a club that celebrates creativity, culture, and the power of community. Football has a unique way of bringing people together, and I am excited to help build something special in San Diego, a city that thrives on diversity and innovation."

This partnership not only marks a new chapter for Tems but also signifies a cultural fusion that promises to bring fresh energy and attention to the MLS, showcasing how music and sports can unite communities across the globe.
