An Igbo proverb says, 'It's only a tree that someone will say I will cut you down and the tree would not move.' Meaning as a human being if you are threatened you would take to your heels before the threat is carried. That is the case with this Nigerian lady who took such an audacious move.

Her unprecedented move has left both netizens and immigration experts baffled as the Nigerian woman took matters into her own hands by self-deporting from the United States.

The story, shared on X by Instablog9ja, has quickly spread across social media platforms, sparking a mix of admiration, disbelief, and debate.

The woman, whose identity remains unknown, reportedly decided to leave the U.S. voluntarily rather than face potential deportation proceedings. This act of self-deportation comes at a time when immigration policies in the U.S. have been under intense scrutiny and reform.

According to sources, she had been in the U.S. on a visa that was nearing its expiration, and with increasing concerns about her legal status, she chose to return to Nigeria before any official deportation order could be issued against her. This preemptive move not only avoids the stigma of being deported but also potentially bypasses the legal and emotional turmoil associated with such proceedings.

In her words, "Guys, please please, wish me Good luck. Umhum I have been threated on this app many times that I am illegal and I am going get deported. I don't have to wait to be deported, I'm going to use my two legs and boom! Vamoose, I'm out. Shebi you guys have peace now. I've left the country, I deported myself. Happy now, Ok."

The decision has elicited a wide range of reactions. Some applaud her for taking control of her situation, viewing it as a proactive step in a system where many feel powerless. "This is what we call 'taking your destiny into your own hands,'" one user commented on Instablog9ja's post. Others, however, question the underlying reasons for such an action, speculating on the pressures she might have faced or the potential for a better life back in Nigeria.

Legal experts have pointed out that while this is an extreme case, self-deportation can sometimes be a strategic move to preserve future opportunities for legal re-entry into the U.S. without the complications of a deportation record. However, the emotional and financial costs of such a decision are significant.
