Muhammad Bello El-Rufai, the member representing Kaduna North in the House of Representatives and son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the ongoing rift between his father and the current Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani. In an interview with the BBC Hausa Service, Bello broke his silence on the issue, describing the situation as unpleasant and emphasizing his desire for peace between the two leaders, both of whom have played significant roles in his life.
Bello acknowledged that while his father remains his number one role model and Governor Uba Sani is his boss, reconciling their differences is not his responsibility. He stated that his primary focus is to provide quality representation to the people of Kaduna North, rather than getting involved in the conflict. He also alleged that some individuals are deriving pleasure from the disagreement, comparing it to a dramatic feud between legendary Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra.
The lawmaker expressed his disappointment over the situation, noting that it is disheartening to see two people he respects deeply at odds with each other. He reiterated his belief in peace, stating that even if someone were his enemy, he would not want to see them in conflict with another person. Bello emphasized that his approach to conflict is to avoid unnecessary disputes, but if he ever chooses to fight for a cause, especially on social media, it would be fierce, as he has demonstrated in the past.
Bello’s comments highlight the personal toll that political disagreements can take on individuals connected to both sides. While he remains committed to his legislative duties, his remarks underscore the need for reconciliation and unity among leaders for the greater good of Kaduna State.
