Nigerian singer Spyro has accused music executive Ubi Franklin of scamming him out of $5,000 by falsely claiming Davido requested his performance at a birthday party in Ghana.
During an interview on the Echoroom podcast, Spyro recounted how Franklin convinced him to perform at Iyanya's birthday celebration under the pretense that Davido had requested it. Despite agreeing to a $5,000 payment, Franklin allegedly failed to pay Spyro after the performance.
Expressing his frustration, Spyro shared, "It was painful to be taken advantage of, especially by someone I respected. Franklin assured me Davido wanted me to perform, but after the event, he ignored my calls and refused to pay."
Spyro explained that Franklin discouraged him from contacting Davido directly, further complicating the situation. Despite attempts to mediate the issue, including involving Pastor Bolaji, Franklin reportedly avoided resolving the matter.
Spyro stated, "This is not just about the money. It’s about integrity. I’m speaking out to protect other artists from falling victim to such scams."
The incident has sparked widespread attention in the entertainment industry, with many awaiting Franklin’s response to the allegations.
