Controversial Nigerian singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been granted bail by an Abuja court following his recent police arraignment.

This development came after mounting pressure on the Nigeria Police Force, which had been detaining the singer. Darlington’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the news on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Police finally arraigns Speed Darlington in court. Bail application moved and granted. We are trying to perfect same.”

The specifics of the bail conditions have not yet been disclosed.

Speed Darlington’s detention became a topic of public interest after he accused Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with American music mogul Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy.

In response to his prolonged detention, Darlington filed a petition to DIG Dasuki Galadanchi of the Force Intelligence Bureau in Abuja, demanding compliance with a court order. The court, led by Justice M.S. Liman, had previously ordered the police to either charge Darlington to court within 48 hours or release him unconditionally.

With his bail now granted, fans and supporters await further details on his legal battles and the allegations that led to his arrest.
