Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his willingness to discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine with US President Donald Trump. This comes after Trump warned Putin to end the war quickly or face severe economic consequences, including high levels of taxes, tariffs, and sanctions on Russian exports to the US and other participating countries.
Putin, in his first comments since Trump's warning, stated that he's ready for negotiations, emphasizing that Russia is always open to working together with the US. He suggested that a meeting between the two leaders would be beneficial, allowing them to discuss the issue calmly.
The Russian president also described his relationship with Trump as "businesslike, pragmatic, and trustworthy." Putin went on to say that Trump is not only smart but also pragmatic, highlighting their positive working relationship.
Interestingly, Putin also claimed that the war in Ukraine could have been avoided if Trump had won the 2020 US presidential election. Putin echoed Trump's allegations that the election was "stolen" from him, suggesting that Trump's presidency could have prevented the crisis in Ukraine.
