Ned Nwoko formally exits PDP and aligns with APC

 Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending months of speculation about his political future. In a letter addressed to the Chairman of PDP in Ward 8, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State, Nwoko cited deep divisions and factionalization within the PDP as the primary reasons for his departure. He expressed concern over the party’s inability to unite and pursue the collective interests of the people, highlighting a recent incident on January 29th where senior party officials engaged in physical confrontations due to irreconcilable differences.

Nwoko, who has been a foundation member of the PDP since 1999, acknowledged the opportunities the party provided him, including the chance to run for the 2022/2023 senatorial election. This platform allowed him to engage directly with his constituents and present his vision for a better future. However, he noted that the current structure of the PDP in Delta State has hindered his ability to fulfill the promises he made during his campaign. These commitments, which he holds dear as a public servant, remain unfulfilled due to the party’s internal challenges.

After careful reflection, Nwoko concluded that stepping away from the PDP was necessary to prioritize his responsibilities to the people. He assured both PDP members and his constituents of his continued commitment to statesmanship, unity, and the advancement of Delta North. Nwoko emphasized that his decision was made in the best interest of those he serves and reaffirmed his dedication to the progress and prosperity of Delta State and Nigeria.

Nwoko’s defection to the APC marks a significant shift in his political career, as he seeks to align with a party he believes will better enable him to serve his constituents effectively. His move underscores the growing challenges within the PDP and highlights the importance of unity and stability in achieving meaningful development.
