American rapper Megan Thee Stallion has been granted a five-year restraining order against rapper Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting her in 2020.
During a virtual appearance in Los Angeles court on Thursday, January 10, 2025, Megan testified about her ongoing fears. The Hot Girl Summer rapper expressed her concerns that Lanez might harm her again if given the chance.
“I feel like maybe he [Tory Lanez] will shoot me again, and maybe this time I won’t make it,” Megan said, highlighting the emotional and physical toll the 2020 incident has had on her.
The court ruled in her favor, granting a five-year civil harassment restraining order to protect her.
Lanez’s lawyer responded, stating that the rapper “has no desire to communicate with the petitioner [Megan] ever again.”
This latest legal development comes years after Lanez was convicted in 2023 for shooting Megan in the feet following a party at Kylie Jenner’s house in 2020. The case has been a focal point of public discussion on violence against women, particularly within the entertainment industry.
Fans and supporters have rallied around Megan, commending her for her courage in continuing to speak out about her experiences and prioritize her safety.
