Suspected kidnap kingpin, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, has claimed to have repented from his criminal ways. His lawyer, Emefo Etudo, told a Lagos State High Court that Evans has applied to the Lagos State Government for mercy and has expressed willingness to share his experiences with youths in schools to deter them from crime.
Etudo stated that Evans has undergone significant reformation through the efforts of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and the Federal Government, which provided him with a scholarship to study and become a better person. The lawyer emphasized that Evans is now a changed man and has been transformed.
Evans' repentance and application for mercy come after he pleaded not guilty to an amended five-count charge bordering on murder, attempt to murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. The State Prosecutor, Y.A. Sule, confirmed that Evans' application for plea bargain is being examined.
The case has been adjourned to March 20 for possible trial. Evans' lawyer is optimistic that his client's transformation will be taken into consideration. According to Etudo, Evans' willingness to share his experiences with youths in schools is a testament to his commitment to making amends for his past mistakes.
