Nigerian music star Burna Boy has explained his actions during the controversial incident at the Lagos Countdown concert, where he was seen kicking a fan who jumped on stage.

The video, which has since gone viral, shows Burna Boy abruptly leaving the stage after the altercation, drawing widespread criticism. Many social media users labeled him the "most arrogant Nigerian artiste" for his behavior.

In response to the backlash, Burna Boy took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday evening to clarify his actions, revealing that he suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

“It was a free show. I was supposed to do 10 minutes and did almost one hour. Everybody knows my rule about getting on stage and startling me when I’m performing,” he explained.

Burna Boy emphasized his love for his fans but warned them against violating his boundaries during performances. “Don’t jump on my stage like that! I got PTSD. I love you all. Happy New Year,” he wrote.

PTSD, or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, is a mental health condition triggered by experiencing or witnessing traumatic events.

While some fans have expressed understanding of Burna Boy’s condition, others remain critical of his reaction, reigniting conversations about celebrity conduct and mental health awareness.
