The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has debunked circulating reports claiming that its National President, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, MON, was arrested and detained by the police in Umuahia, Abia State.
Rumors suggested that Rollas was apprehended over allegations of imposing an unelected chairman on the AGN's Abia State chapter. However, in a statement issued by the Guild’s spokesman, Cornel Udofia, the AGN described the claims as baseless and malicious.
The statement clarified that Rollas was not arrested but had visited the police station to file a complaint. It further provided context for the ongoing leadership dispute within the Abia State chapter, attributing the controversy to a faction led by David Amalaha, which allegedly conducted an unauthorized election in violation of the AGN constitution.

Since 2024, the Abia chapter has been managed by interim administrations while awaiting the resolution of court proceedings. On January 9, 2025, Emmanuel Ehumadu, popularly known as "Labista," was appointed as the new Interim Chairman, with Rollas attending the chapter’s meeting to encourage member participation during his visit to the state.
The Guild reiterated its support for Rollas, emphasizing his dedication to uniting the organization and maintaining constitutional order.
