Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has sparked yet another social media storm by claiming that his ex-lover, Queen Dami, hindered his chances of winning a Grammy Award.
In an interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, Portable suggested that spiritual forces played a role in their breakup and his lack of global recognition.
The Zazu crooner alleged that Queen Dami, the former wife of the late Alaafin of Oyo, was disloyal during their relationship, accusing her of being unfaithful. He implied that her actions brought him misfortune: "She [Queen Dami] is one of the reasons I don’t have a Grammy award, considering how much effort I put into my music."
Portable added that he turned to traditional spirituality to rid his life of negative influences: "I prayed to ‘ifa’ to remove anything causing misfortunes in my life, and shortly after, she left."
He further claimed: "Usually, if I date a woman who is faithful to me, I will cash out. But if she frolics or has sexual relationships with other men, I will retrogress. I would have won a Grammy by now if she hadn’t been in my life."
Portable and Queen Dami recently ended their tumultuous relationship, which played out publicly on social media. The breakup added another layer of controversy to Portable’s already colorful persona.
