Veteran actor Abiodun Ayoyinka, famed for his portrayal of Papa Ajasco in the beloved Nigerian sitcom Papa Ajasco & Company, had a chance encounter with President Bola Tinubu at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport. The heartwarming meeting has reignited discussions about their long-standing camaraderie.
In a video that has since gone viral, President Tinubu, clad in traditional attire, can be seen gesturing for Ayoyinka to approach him. The 64-year-old actor walked past security aides to greet the president with a respectful bow. The two exchanged pleasantries in a display of mutual admiration.
Ayoyinka’s portrayal of the titular character in Papa Ajasco & Company made him a household name. The series, created by Wale Adenuga, humorously tackled societal issues and resonated with audiences across Nigeria and 12 African countries.
President Tinubu, 72, was in Lagos for the holidays after recently presenting a ₦49.7 trillion budget proposal for 2025. Dubbed the “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity,” the plan emphasizes economic stability and better living standards under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
