Amanda Amaeshi Named My Life My Say’s 2024 ‘Changemaker of the Year’

Nigerian-born activist and UCL law student Amanda Amaeshi has been awarded My Life My Say’s prestigious Changemaker of the Year title for 2024.

The accolade, announced at the Next Generation Conference on November 22 at London’s Barbican Centre, celebrates her tireless advocacy for gender equality, anti-racism, and youth empowerment.

Amaeshi’s remarkable journey began years before this recognition. She has consistently been a leading voice in global policy discussions, inspiring change through initiatives that tackle societal challenges. Her impactful work has earned her accolades such as:

• 2017: Winner of the Young Reporters for the Environment competition for addressing food waste in Scotland.
• 2018: Ambassador for Scotland’s Year of Young People, championing youth political engagement.
• Recent Honors: Inclusion in the WOW Foundation’s Young Leaders Directory and the Glasgow Times’ Young Scotswoman of the Year.

Amaeshi’s advocacy extends across numerous platforms. She serves as a member of Scotland’s National Advisory Council on Women and Girls and works with Girlguiding’s national advocate panel, addressing critical issues affecting young women while engaging with policymakers to create lasting change.

In her acceptance speech, Amaeshi emphasized the collective nature of her success: "This award isn’t just about me; it represents the impact of collaborative efforts to create positive societal change."
