Genoveva Kenechukwu Umeh (born May 8, 1995) is a British-Nigerian actress whose talent and dedication have earned her a prominent place in Nollywood.
Known for her versatility and emotional depth, Umeh achieved significant milestones early in her career, including winning the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA) for her role in the Prime Video original Breath of Life.

Early Life and Education
Genoveva Umeh was born in Enugu, Nigeria, to Gaius Umeh, a computer engineer, and Ifeoma Umeh, a nurse. She spent her early years in Enugu, attending Command Children's School and beginning her secondary education at Command Day Secondary School. At the age of 12, her family relocated to the United Kingdom, where she completed her education at St. Mary's College of Education High School in London.
It was during her secondary school years in the UK that Umeh discovered her passion for acting. Encouraged by her love for performance, she enrolled in a term at Identity School of Acting in 2012, where she honed her craft through stage plays, including performances at London’s Hammersmith Theatre.
Despite her burgeoning interest in acting, Umeh pursued an academic path, earning an LLB Law degree from the University of Surrey with honors. However, her heart remained tied to storytelling, which ultimately led her to transition fully into acting.
Career Beginnings
In 2018, Umeh made a bold move to Lagos, Nigeria, to chase her dream of becoming an actress. She debuted her one-woman stage play, HOME, at the Lagos Fringe Festival, which later toured South Africa. She also participated in impactful stage productions like High, a play addressing substance abuse among teenagers.

Her first lead role came in the 2020 feature film A Tune Away, which earned her a nomination for Best Actress in a Drama at the 2022 AMVCA. Before this, she had made her on-screen debut with a small role in Love is War (2019), a film that later appeared on Netflix.
Breakthrough Roles
Genoveva Umeh's breakout moment arrived when she starred as Timeyin Ademola in Blood Sisters (2022), Nigeria’s first Netflix original crime thriller series. Directed by Kenneth Gyang, her portrayal of the troubled but resilient character received widespread praise for its intensity and authenticity.
Shortly after wrapping Blood Sisters, Umeh was cast as Zina in Far From Home, a young adult Netflix series, where she showcased her ability to resonate with diverse audiences.
She has also appeared in:

The BAFTA-nominated short film Lizard (2020), as Khafilat.
