Renowned Nollywood actor and filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has announced the passing of his beloved mother, Omoladun Afolayan, who died at the age of 81.
Kunle shared the heartbreaking news on his Instagram, expressing gratitude for her well-lived life. “It is hard to accept, but she surely lived a good life,” he wrote. “Our mother, Maami Omoladun Ayanladun Afolayan, has gone to rest. (1943-2024).”

Omoladun Afolayan is remembered as a devoted mother, leaving behind children, grandchildren, and a legacy cherished by her family and Nollywood fans alike. Kunle’s brother, actor Gabriel Afolayan, also expressed his grief, reminiscing about her warmth and companionship. “You’d be greatly missed, big mummy (Iya Oyo)... I will miss my gist and dance partner,” he shared.
The Afolayan family has asked for prayers during this difficult time as they honor the memory of their matriarch.
