In an unexpected twist, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) re-arrested popular social media personality and crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos.
Just days after being released on bail, Bobrisky was apprehended Thursday evening as he was about to board a flight to London.
Just days after being released on bail, Bobrisky was apprehended Thursday evening as he was about to board a flight to London.
According to eyewitness accounts, Nigerian authorities halted the plane minutes before takeoff, escorting Bobrisky off the aircraft in full view of stunned passengers. The incident adds to a series of legal challenges surrounding Bobrisky, who has recently been at the center of ongoing investigations.
Bobrisky turned to Instagram shortly after the arrest, posting, "Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured," expressing distress over his detention. His recent legal troubles follow a previous detention by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) at the Seme border, where he was allegedly caught attempting to flee the country.

Bobrisky seemed to have exposed himself which was why he was arrested. He was seen in a post he shared on Ayo Fayose's Instagram page where he announced Bobrisky on a flight to London.

This re-arrest stems from an ongoing investigation into claims that Bobrisky received preferential treatment during a recent jail term. In a leaked audio recording, he allegedly stated that "influential connections" allowed him to serve his sentence outside Kirikiri prison. The EFCC has yet to comment on the latest arrest, but public interest continues to grow as the saga unfolds.
