Nigerian social critic Martins Otse, popularly known as Very Dark Man (VDM), has responded to human rights lawyer Femi Falana's recent threats of legal action following defamation claims.
Falana, during an interview on Channels TV, denied any involvement with Bobrisky and insisted on pursuing legal action if VDM did not issue a retraction and apology regarding allegations against him and his son, rapper Falz.
The allegations surfaced after VDM shared an audio clip in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have bribed authorities, including Falz, to help reduce his prison sentence. Falana vehemently denied the accusations, stating that neither he nor his son had any dealings with the controversial crossdresser.
In his response, VDM seemed unfazed by Falana’s legal threat, maintaining his stance and emphasizing that Bobrisky should also face legal consequences for his alleged role in the controversy. He stressed that the central issue was corruption within the EFCC and Nigeria Correctional Services (NCoS) and not just the allegations involving Falana.
In a video post, VDM wrote: "Refuse to make this about the Falanas and VDM. It is about EFCC and the correctional officers in the alleged corruption case ongoing. Nigerians don’t understand how big of a problem this is. Anyways, make una serve me letter after the truth of all these comes out, and also make una no forget Bob."
Meanwhile, Bobrisky has continued to deny the allegations, insisting that the audio clip in question was generated through artificial intelligence (AI) and not his real voice.
As the saga unfolds, social media has been abuzz with reactions, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the bribery claims. Both VDM and Falana remain firm in their respective positions, with legal action looming on the horizon.
The controversy highlights the broader issue of corruption within the Nigerian justice system and the potential misuse of public figures' names in false narratives.
