Ayelabola embarked on the ambitious journey on October 1 at UNILAG's indoor sports centre, where she successfully walked 130.62km, surpassing her initial target of 120km.
The model completed 2,058 laps within the sports centre, pushing beyond the previous record of 114.4km, set by Roberta Brown and Lorraine McCourt in Dublin, Ireland, on September 21, 1983.
In an Instagram post, Ayelabola expressed that her record-breaking walk was not just a personal achievement but a way to spotlight Nigeria’s fashion industry and challenge societal stereotypes around modeling.
"I'm not walking for myself alone," Ayelabola shared. "I am walking for many models who have been limited by stereotypes and standards set by rigid systems. I am also walking to showcase the creativity of the Nigerian fashion industry."
Ayelabola's achievement is currently awaiting verification and confirmation from Guinness World Records, but the feat has already sparked widespread excitement and pride among Nigerians.
