Popular Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has shot down rumors that she secretly tied the knot with entertainment executive Farouk Umar during her 40th birthday Thanksgiving celebration in Lagos.
Speculation arose when images and videos of the pair, both dressed in elegant white outfits and sharing close moments, circulated online, prompting social media to buzz with claims of a secret wedding. However, in a humorous response, Toke cleared the air, asserting that she and Farouk are nothing more than close friends.
Speaking on the rumors, Toke stated, “On Obasanjo’s internet, they said I got married to this guy... Farouk is my best friend, my brother, my ride or die. Who wan marry you? Farouk held me down when there was nobody.”
This isn't the first time Toke's personal life has been the subject of public scrutiny. Her first marriage to fitness trainer Maje Ayida ended in 2017 amid infidelity allegations.
The latest denial has sparked further conversation online, with many fans applauding her transparency and humor in addressing the situation.
