Afrobeat superstar Davido has clarified that there was never any conflict between him and fellow artist Wizkid, debunking long-standing rumors of a rivalry.

The singer revealed that the meeting was intended to assure fans of both artists that there was no animosity between them and to ensure that his album’s release was drama-free.
In a now-viral clip of the interview posted by bwetv.ng, Davido shared how he reached out to one of his key fan leaders, Tomiwa, to de-escalate any potential tensions between his supporters and Wizkid’s famous FC fanbase. He urged his fans to refrain from engaging in any fights with Wizkid's supporters during his album launch.
“I called him [Tomiwa] and said, look, my album is coming out on Thursday. Please leave all these Wizkid fans. Please don’t fight anybody. I was with Wizkid a couple of days ago, and we were not fighting. Don’t fight anybody because I want my album to come out clean,” Davido explained.
Despite his efforts, Davido admitted that fan tensions led to a minor fallout, which included his Timeless album being leaked two days before the official launch. However, he acknowledged the positive side of fan culture, highlighting their dedication and passion.
This revelation puts to rest long-standing speculations about a feud between the two Afrobeats giants and emphasizes the power of fan influence in the Nigerian music scene.
