Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has addressed misconceptions surrounding his upbringing, asserting that he comes from a respectful family despite his occasional celebrity antics. His statement comes amid ongoing jabs from his colleague, Wizkid, who recently took aim at Davido’s family.
During a courtesy visit to the Olu of Warri in Delta State on Saturday, Davido clarified that his behavior in the limelight doesn’t reflect his upbringing, saying, “I was brought up by great parents. I come from a very respectful family, but sometimes, as OBO [star], I may act out of place.”
The statement appears to be a subtle response to Wizkid, who recently shaded Davido’s family in a now-viral post. “When u see people wey dem papa and family train, u go know! U don’t see my uncle dancing online!” Wizkid wrote on his X handle, alluding to Davido’s uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, known for his energetic dance moves on social media.
