Maverick Nigerian singer and social critic, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has expressed strong disapproval over Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s recent apology regarding his comments on tithing.
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) had earlier apologized for saying that those who do not pay tithes won’t make it to heaven, admitting the statement was wrong and not biblical.

Adeboye’s statement read, “I’m apologizing for saying, ‘If you don’t pay tithe, you won’t make it to heaven.’ I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible.”
Reacting to the apology, Charly Boy took to social media to share his disappointment, insisting that words alone were not enough. According to him, the apology was meaningless unless Pastor Adeboye returned the tithe money collected from church members under false pretenses.
Charly Boy didn’t mince words, saying, “Your apology don’t mean sh*t unless you promise to return the tithe money them give you for mumu people wey wan bribe dia way to heaven.”
He went further to criticize the perceived hypocrisy among churchgoers and some pastors, remarking that “the most bitter, judgmental, envious and wicked people all go to church on Sundays.”
This fiery critique has sparked reactions online, with many engaging in debates over the church’s approach to tithing and Charly Boy’s unapologetically blunt callout of religious leaders.
The controversial singer has once again positioned himself as a vocal critic of what he perceives as exploitation within religious circles.
