Grammy-winning sensation Burna Boy has been officially named the biggest Nigerian artist of all time by Apple Music. In a special release celebrating Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, the streaming platform unveiled its top 10 most streamed Nigerian artists and songs, with Burna Boy leading the pack.
Burna Boy’s dominance was cemented as he topped the list, followed by fellow Afrobeats heavyweights Wizkid, Davido, Rema, and Asake. The top 10 was rounded out by Tems, Omah Lay, Fireboy DML, BNXN, and Olamide, reflecting the immense global influence of Nigerian music.
In addition to Burna Boy’s monumental achievement, Rema’s remix of Calm Down with Selena Gomez emerged as the most streamed Nigerian song of all time on Apple Music. Burna Boy’s hit Last Last took second place, followed by Wizkid’s Essence featuring Tems. Tems also secured the fourth spot with her smash hit Free Mind, while Burna Boy’s iconic track Ye claimed the fifth spot.
Other chart-topping hits included Burna Boy’s collaborations like Location with Dave, Rema’s solo version of Calm Down, Ayra Starr’s Rush, and Burna Boy’s On The Low, as well as Wizkid’s Come Closer featuring Drake.
Apple Music also celebrated Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity by spotlighting nine Afrobeats stars hailing from various regions, including 2Baba from Jos, Omah Lay from Port Harcourt, Odumodublvck from Abuja, and more.
With Burna Boy’s continued reign and Nigerian music’s global explosion, the future of Afrobeats looks brighter than ever.
