Gernot Rohr has identified three key players who played a pivotal role in the Super Eagles' commanding 3-0 victory over his Benin team in the opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign.

The Cheetahs of Benin Republic had previously triumphed over Nigeria in June during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, but the three-time African champions returned the favor with a decisive performance.

Benin put up a strong defensive effort for most of the first half, but their resolve was shattered by a moment of brilliance from Ballon d'Or nominee Ademola Lookman, significantly diminishing their hopes of securing a positive result.
