A heated dispute between popular Nollywood actress Adunni Ade and an Indrive cab driver, Francis Njoku, has taken a legal turn after Njoku threatened to sue the actress for defamation.
The incident began when Adunni Ade accused Njoku of stealing her package during a delivery trip. In a now-viral Instagram post on Wednesday, Adunni called out the ride-hailing service, claiming the driver ended the trip prematurely and refused to deliver the package or answer her calls.
"@indrive.ng I have contacted you for hours but no response. One of your drivers has stolen my package. He ended the trip before getting to me and not picking up calls," Adunni shared, sparking a wave of condemnation from social media users against the company.
However, in a dramatic twist, Adunni later revealed that Njoku returned the package after the company intervened by locking his profile. The actress shared screenshots of her conversations with Njoku and her fashion designer, who had initially sent the package.
In response, an infuriated Njoku demanded an apology, claiming the actress had tarnished his reputation. He vowed to take legal action, stating, "You have made nonsense of my image, and I have contacted my legal team. You must render an unreserved apology and ask Instablog to pull the post down."
Adunni fired back, accusing Njoku of arrogance and entitlement, saying, “In my whole adult life of ordering and delivering or using services of logistic companies, I have never encountered anyone as rude, ill-mannered, arrogant, uncivilized, and entitled as Francis Njoku.”
As the controversy continues to unfold, the possibility of a courtroom battle has sparked further public interest. Fans and netizens remain divided, with some supporting Adunni, while others suggest Njoku's side should be heard in full before passing judgment.
