Hollywood has lost one of its most legendary stars, James Earl Jones, who peacefully passed away at his residence on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the age of 93.
Known for his deep, resonant voice, Jones left an indelible mark on cinema by voicing iconic characters such as Darth Vader in Star Wars and Mufasa in Disney’s The Lion King (1994). His illustrious career also included standout roles in Field of Dreams, Conan the Barbarian, Coming To America, and The Greatest.
Born in Mississippi in January 1931, the beloved actor is survived by his son, Flynn Earl Jones. Jones had publicly discussed his long battle with type 2 diabetes, raising awareness about the condition in recent years.
His contributions to film and theater will forever be remembered as the end of an era in Hollywood.
