In a sharp and pointed response to the latest twist in the Bobrisky saga, prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana has fiercely rejected allegations that he sought a presidential pardon for controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, for the sum of N10 million.
The claim, which originated from a viral audio released by influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has sparked widespread attention, but Falana isn’t having any of it.
The claim, which originated from a viral audio released by influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has sparked widespread attention, but Falana isn’t having any of it.
In a letter addressed to VeryDarkMan on Wednesday, Falana, through his legal representative Taiwo Olawanle, described the accusation as a "vicious, wicked, and reckless ploy" aimed at damaging his reputation. Falana firmly stated that he has never spoken to Bobrisky about a pardon, or on any matter, adding that the allegation was entirely baseless.
The senior lawyer didn’t stop there. He demanded an immediate retraction of the publication and a public apology from VeryDarkMan to be published across all platforms within 24 hours.
"We wish to state, without any fear of contradiction, that our client has never, in his life, spoken to Bobrisky on his alleged pardon or on any matter whatsoever," the letter read, making it clear that Falana is ready to take legal action if his demands are not met.

Falana’s warning is crystal clear: if VeryDarkMan fails to retract the statement and issue an apology, the legal heavyweight is prepared to seek monetary damages for defamation. In a scandal already swirling with accusations of bribery and manipulation, this new development further heats up the saga, pulling one of Nigeria’s most respected legal figures into the fray.
For context, the viral audio also contains claims from Bobrisky that some EFCC officials accepted N15 million to drop money laundering charges against him—allegations Bobrisky has since denied. He maintains that he served his prison sentence and did not bribe anyone to alter his case.
With Falana now involved, this already dramatic tale has taken a serious turn. All eyes are on VeryDarkMan, who now faces the pressure of both the EFCC and one of Nigeria’s most formidable legal minds. Will he retract his statements, or will this snowball into a courtroom showdown? The plot thickens.
