Popular Nigerian disc jockey, DJ Neptune, has responded to allegations made by singer and former BBNaija winner Laycon, who accused him of withholding royalties from their 2020 collaboration, Nobody Icons Remix.

Laycon had recently called out DJ Neptune on social media, claiming that he hadn’t received any payment for the song four years after its release.

In a recent appearance on the Zero Conditions podcast, DJ Neptune set the record straight, denying any wrongdoing. He explained that the issue stems from the music industry’s standard practice of recouping investments made by distribution companies or labels before profits are shared.

“Laycon is my brother regardless. Nobody ate anybody’s money,” DJ Neptune clarified. He further explained that Laycon’s concern was more about documentation, not payment, and that legal teams on both sides were handling the matter.

Neptune admitted that communication on his end could have been better but expressed disappointment that Laycon chose to address the issue publicly, which he felt painted a misleading picture of fraud.

The disc jockey emphasized that both sides were in ongoing discussions and that the situation was more about business formalities than intentional deceit. He called for patience and professionalism in resolving the issue.
