British-Nigerian actress Laura Lake Adebisi has ignited a heated debate after declaring that Nigeria was never meant to be a country due to the stark ideological differences between the North and South.

“The footprints of colonialism are over Nigeria. Nigeria should have never been a country!” Adebisi stated, citing the extreme ideological divide between the regions. She argued that when the Eastern region attempted to secede and form Biafra, the British, acting in their own interests, empowered the Nigerian government to crush the movement.
“They were like, we want you guys to stay like this so we can continue to pillage and take all of your resources,” Adebisi explained, pointing to colonial influence as a key factor in Nigeria’s continued struggles.
Her comments have sparked mixed reactions, with some applauding her for speaking out on Nigeria’s colonial history, while others have criticized her views as too extreme. Either way, Adebisi's remarks have added fuel to the ongoing conversations about Nigeria's past and future.
