In a surprising career shift, popular Nollywood actor and movie producer Chris Bassey has left the Nigerian entertainment industry to pursue plumbing work in Canada.
During a candid chat with media personality Daddy Freeze on Instagram, Bassey opened up about his new life abroad and how his new career in construction offers more financial stability and a relaxed lifestyle.

When asked about his new career, Daddy Freeze expressed surprise, given Bassey’s fame in Nollywood. “I know you as a producer and actor, what career are you into this Yankee?” Daddy Freeze asked.
Bassey responded confidently: “I’m into construction here.” He explained that his current job, even as a plumber, allows him to afford a lifestyle that’s out of reach for many, including those in tech. In pidgin, Bassey added, “In the last seven months, the province I have visited just on weekends in Canada, even person wey dey do tech no fit afford am.”
Bassey’s revelation has sparked conversation on social media, with many applauding his decision to prioritize a stable and rewarding career, despite his fame in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
