Nollywood has been hit with another tragic loss as veteran actor Emmanuel France has passed away. The news of his death was confirmed by filmmaker Femi Ogedengbe on Instagram on Monday, expressing his sorrow and sharing fond memories of working together.
Ogedengbe reflected on their time in Tanzania in 2006, where they collaborated on three films: She Is My Sister, The Director, and Cross My Sin. He wrote, “Rest in peace to one of Nollywood’s legends, Uncle Emmanuel France.”
The cause of Emmanuel France’s death has not yet been revealed.
This marks another painful blow to Nollywood, which has lost several actors in 2024, including Mr. Ibu, Junior Pope, Sisi Quadri, Ganiyu ‘Ogunjimi’ Oyeyemi, and Amaechi Muonagor. Emmanuel France’s passing came just hours after the death of fellow actor Big Larry, deepening the sense of grief in the Nigerian film industry.
