The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reported no incidents of vandalism involving Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) during the ongoing protests in Abuja. This was confirmed by Dr. Olusola Odumosu, the FCT Commandant of the NSCDC, following an inspection tour of several key sites on Friday.

Dr. Odumosu visited several critical locations, including railway stations at Wupa, Kukwaba 1 and 2, Bassanjiwa, Gwagwa, and Idu, as well as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Headquarters, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company in Wuse, the FCT Water Board in Asokoro, and the Abuja Central Mosque.

Commending the peaceful conduct of the protesters, Dr. Odumosu noted that none of the railway corridors had been tampered with by miscreants during the first day of the protests. However, he cautioned that the second day of protests was still ongoing and continued vigilance was necessary.

"We discovered that none of the railway corridors were tampered with by miscreants during the day-1 protest but day-2 is still ongoing. We have a collective duty to protect CNAI as these amenities were provided with our common wealth," Odumosu said.

While acknowledging the right of citizens to engage in peaceful protests, Dr. Odumosu warned against any attempts to damage government properties and installations. He condemned the attack on motorists in the Lugbe area and the burning of private vehicles in Nyanya on Thursday.

During the visit to the Idu railway station, Engr. Joseph Akinteye, the Director of Transport for the FCT Administration (FCTA), praised the NSCDC personnel for their dedication to securing the railway stations. "We have not had any case of vandalism in a long while, this shows the commitment of your men in securing critical infrastructure in the FCT," Akinteye said.

The NSCDC's ongoing efforts to maintain the security of critical infrastructure amidst the protests have been acknowledged as a crucial component in safeguarding public assets and ensuring the continuation of essential services in the capital territory.
