Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has taken a jab at South Africans following the withdrawal of Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina, a Nigerian-affiliated model, from the Miss South Africa contest.

Adetshina, who is of Nigerian and Mozambican heritage, was forced out of the competition after facing intense bullying from predominantly black South Africans who questioned her ability to represent the country due to her origins.

In a surprising twist, Mia Le Roux, a white model of Dutch descent and the only deaf contestant, was crowned Miss South Africa 2024, sparking further controversy. Le Roux's victory, ahead of nine other predominantly black models, has led to widespread mockery of the black South Africans who vehemently opposed Adetshina's candidacy.

Reacting to the outcome, Burna Boy shared a photo of Le Roux on his X account with a caption that read, "So after all that… [laugh emoji]," referencing the backlash that drove Adetshina out of the competition. His comment alludes to the irony of the situation, where the black South African critics who opposed Adetshina's participation ended up with a non-black winner.
