Famous afrobeat musician Burna Boy has warned his fans not to involve him in the ongoing nationwide hunger protest. This comes as Nigerian youths commenced a 10-day protest on August 1 against economic hardship.
As the protests gained momentum, fans took to social media to urge celebrities to lend their voices to the cause. Responding on his X handle, Burna Boy stated that he no longer has the fight in him after the tragic events of the EndSARS protest on October 20, 2020.
Quoting a post from the 2020 protest, he wrote: “The fight in me died on this day. Ogun go doggy anybody wey call my name this time around. Even Jesus was crucified.” The quoted post highlighted a moment during the EndSARS protest when demonstrators refused to play his songs.

This stance comes amid calls from other celebrities, like singer Spyro, for an entertainment break and for celebrities to use their platforms to support the protests. Spyro had emphasized the importance of celebrities speaking up, urging them to lend their voices to the nationwide demonstration.
