Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has stated that he has never received any benefits from Nigerian politicians, including ex-Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
In a post on his X handle on Thursday, Burna Boy expressed disappointment over unfulfilled promises made by politicians, particularly highlighting Wike's pledge. “No politician has ever given anything. Go ask Wike where the land him give me or which money him give me. You think I’m your faves,” he wrote.

This statement came in response to the 2021 announcement by Wike, who had promised to reward Burna Boy with a plot of land and cash as recognition for winning the Grammy Award. This promise was made during a homecoming ceremony organized by Rivers State to celebrate Burna Boy’s success after his album ‘Twice as Tall’ won the Best Global Music Album category.
