Bayer Leverkusen, German champions, kick off season with dramatic last-minute victory

 

Bayer Leverkusen, the reigning German champions, kicked off their season with a thrilling last-minute victory against Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Florian Wirtz's goal in the 11th minute of stoppage time secured a 3-2 win for Leverkusen in the Bundesliga opener. 

The team had a comfortable lead at half-time, with goals from Granit Xhaka and Wirtz putting them ahead under the guidance of coach Xabi Alonso.
